What is the BookFest?
|
Since inception in 1995 around May each year a few thousand people gather to browse over some 80,000 books, magazines, games, tapes, CD's and videos.
About four months before the BookFest, Heretaunga Rotary sets up collection points for used books at supermarkets and selected retail outlets. Many people donate books they no longer need and we co-ordinate their collection, sorting and presentation in one mighty annual book sale.
BookFest has now become an annual event for many avid readers, the young and not so young, keen to store up on books for the coming winter and at the same time make a contribution towards many worthwhile community projects within the Hutt Valley.
It has grown to include the sale of second hand computing equipment, puzzles and games, delishious BBQ sausages and home made ginger beer.
